Good morning recovery gamblers. Specifically professional sports gamblers. I fielded a couple of calls this weekend from non-clients. Each call was different, but the theme appeared the same. "Tod, I am bored." At first, I ran this through my mind, before I answered each person. My delivery remained constant to each person. I called this bored statement a higher power. Interesting, both of the callers picked up on this higher power right away. I was a little shocked. Quickly I decided to frame the next question out of support and help, right? A higher power is something that we can pray to, have faith in and allow us, (self) to reexamine our life and choices, maybe even ask our self if we do indeed have a gambling problem?
I almost fell out of a my chair, both callers felt the need to talk about this potential gambling problem. The "chase" was becoming the detour. I thought of this analogy on my own! I want to thank each caller for their time, but more importantly for being honest with where they are at right now this second. This dire moment in our sports world can become a positive for gamblers who are ready to address the situation. I call that a higher power moment. Things happen for a reason. Stay in your health, stay in the moment. Self-Balance-Higher Power-Fun
